Sunday will begin with a Community Religious Service at the Community Park, a Family pancake breakfast at St. Boniface School, Fireman's Bar-B-Q Cook Off in the afternoon, Dice Run, ending with our closing ceremony Sunday evening. description: After a 5 year wait, the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Elk Expo is back! The 2013 Expo will be held August 17 & 18 on the Elk Country Visitor Center grounds in Benezette. The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau and Keystone Elk Country Alliance have partnered to bring the Elk Expo to life again. This year is anticipated to be bigger and better than ever before. Historically the Expo has drawn crowds from across the state and around the country. Visitors enjoy the numerous nationally recognized speakers and in-depth educational seminars as well as presentations from local experts during the Expo. Vendors will be on site offering everything from outdoor gear to wildlife photography. There will also be local food vendors and live music to enjoy. For the kids there will be lots of fun activities and educational opportunities, presented by the Keystone Elk Country Alliance. The Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette opened their doors in September of 2010. They have become a shining example of a public and private partnership, between the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, welcoming 200,000 visitors a year to their eco-friendly facility. KECA is committed to conserving the state’s majestic elk habitat and providing educational programs accredited by the PA Department of Education. On the grounds of the Elk Country Visitor Center there are nature trails and viewing areas, perfect for safely viewing the elk herd which frequents the property.
