Stackpole-Hall Foundation's Long Range Planning
Project Open For Input
The Stackpole-Hall Foundation is excited to announce
that its Long Range Planning project has officially
started and that the "Ideascale" website
is up and running so that individuals will be
able to submit ideas, vote on ideas and make comments
on ideas. The website will remain active until
April 30, 2015.
Those interested in submitting and idea using
the "Ideascale" website should follow
1. In your browser, type: stackpolehall.ideascale.com
(or click on this link)
2. Click on "Register" at the top, right
of the page
3. Enter your email address, fill in the CAPTCHA
and click "Submit"
4. You will see a message at the top of the page
that a confirming email is being sent to your
5. Check your email for a message asking you to
verify your email address (you may have to check
your SPAM folder)
6. In the email, click on "Yes, this is my
email" and you will be directed back to Ideascale
7. Enter a password for the Ideascale site, confirm
the password, and click on "Create Password"
8. Answer three profile questions (zip code, age
range, and gender) and click "Save Changes"
9. You are now a registered member and may submit
ideas, vote on an idea, and submit comments.
If you want to submit an idea, but who do not
want to do so via the internet, you can send your
idea directly to: The Stackpole-Hall Foundation,
44 South St. Marys Street, St. Marys PA 15857.
If you mail an idea to the Foundation, you won't
be able to vote, make comments or monitor progress.
For demographic purposes, ideas sent by US mail
must include the zip code, age, and gender of
the writer. Ideas should focus on issues dealing
with providing opportunities for meaningful careers
for young people in Elk County and ideas dealing
with supporting senior citizens' health and independence.

Historical Society News
Over 100 Korean Veterans and family members
of deceased Korean War Veteran were remembered
and honored at a dinner on April 11, 2015 at the
American Legion Building in Byrendale. The dinner
was jointly sponsored by the Mt. Zion History
Society and Valley American Legion to pay tribute
to local Korean War Veterans on the 60th Anniversary
of this war. The event began with a welcome by
Valley Legion President James McCluskey and Mt.
Zion Historical Society President Jim Burke. Following
dinner Rudy Cadori was presented with a plaque
of Appreciation from the Elk County Commissioners
for his work in gathering veteran information.
Rudy found and compiled a list of 200 forgotten
veterans to add to the historical society’s
veteran list which now has grown to over 1000
names. This list together with numerous pictures
of local veterans can be viewed on line at www.mtzionhistoricalsociety.org.
The 2015 dedication at the Mt. Zion Historical
Park, to be held on May 23rd at 1:00 PM, will
honor our local POWs. The Mt. Zion Historical
Society provides a free service of posting Veterans
information and pictures of Veterans on their
web site. Anyone desire to submit a picture or
information may do so my contacting Susan McClintick,
or Ken and Rita Ovell.
DECA Family Fun Night & Fundraiser

April 23, from 6 - 8 PM at St. Marys High School Cafeteria
Description: Bingo and pizza!! Tickets
are $25 and include up to 5 people on one ticket. Each
ticket includes one X-large pizza, beverages, and 5
bingo cards. Additional bingo cards are available for
$2 each; additional pizzas are available for $9 each
(must be ordered in advance). All proceeds benefit the
DECA Club for Conferences and Competitions.

our veterans! This event is sponsored by the Mt. Zion
Historical Sociaty and Valley American Legion.
The 2015 Annual Memorial Week End Dedication this year
will be held the Saturday before Memorial Day at the
Mt. Zion Historical Park. The dedication starts at 1:00
PM. This year our local POWs will be honored with a
plaque in the Veteran’s Honor Walk. The Society
would be most grateful for any information regards to
any local veteran who was a POW. This information can

PA Wilds Arts Fest

Alliance is teaming up with the PA Wilds Artisan Train
to launch a festival showcasing high quality, locally
made products from the Pennsylvania Wilds. The event
will include live music, artisan demonstrations, and
the Artisan Trail coordinators will conduct two free
workshops for new artists and retailers interested in
learning more about membership benefits and how to apply
to the program. Special discounted booth rates will
be offered to all PA Wilds Juried Artisans and Trail
